व्याकुळ कोंब

How quickly you finish

everything served on the plate

with restraint 

like a conquering emperor

Couldn't  you inhale

the aroma of the delicacies..

Couldn't  you savour them 

in delight !

Couldn't you acknowledge earnestly !

if not with words

with a gratifying glance at least !

Instead

you get up with a belch

wiping your mouth 

and 

the anguished tender sprout 

of my hunger

withers and dies within...

किती पटापट संपवलं

ताटातलं सगळं

निग्रहानं विजय मिळवणाऱ्या 

एखाद्या सम्राटासारखं 

साठवून घेता आला असता 

पुढ्यातल्या पदार्थांचा दरवळ

अन् लज्जतही अनुभवता आली असती खरंतर

देता आली असती

उत्स्फूर्त दाद

फक्त एका कृतार्थ नजरेने

तू तोंड पुसून उठतो

ढेकर देऊन तेव्हा

कोमेजून, मृतप्राय होतो 

जेमतेम उगवू पाहणारा

माझ्या भूकेचा व्याकूळ कोंब!
